Parasites are plant or animal organisms that live at the expense of another person or animal (host), and can cause harm. There are several types of intestinal parasites, the most common among worms or helminths are oxyrus, and within protozoa, the amoeba. The former can be observed with the naked eye in the stools, while the latter are only perceptible through the microscope. The main way to acquire these parasites is through the contamination of water, fruits, vegetables or soil with human stools infected with their eggs, or directly through a food handler with bad hygienic habits that make him a carrier of a parasite. Therefore it is advisable to wash your hands frequently, use drinking water and consume well-washed vegetables and cooked foods.
