The relationship between kitchen staff and lounge staff
Camila 26 de septiembre de 2025

To avoid conflicts between areas, good communication, interest and respect for the activity of my colleagues is essential.Conflicts between living room and kitchen are very common in gastronomic premises, this is due to the lack of communication between the parties and the lack of interest and ignorance about the work of the other.
The waiters are the ones who deal with the customers, both when everything goes well and when everything goes wrong. The cooks are responsible not only for serving (cooking and plating) all the tables that are in the restaurant in a timely manner, but they have the responsibility for the production, stock, storage and preservation of all the food that is consumed or will be consumed in the restaurant.
Both sectors have great responsibilities, and the jobs are dynamic and very demanding on a physical and mental level. Understanding this is important to have a fluid relationship between the two. Being interested and knowing the work of the other, the difficulties and limitations they may have, is a way to show respect and companionship.
Empathy is fundamental. Maintaining a healthy working relationship improves the overall performance of the premises, our individual performance and our day to day at work, will undoubtedly be much more enjoyable.
